When should I bring my child to Dr. Kamdar?
Children usually are seen by Dr. Kamdar at about 1 year old or when their first tooth comes in.
Plaque does not become present until the teeth are present.
Your child’s first visit will also be a learning opportunity for you as our team provides dental instruction for parents.
What should I bring on my first visit?
On your first visit to our office, please bring your insurance card and our First Visit Packet completed. Download them to the left.
Your insurance determines your deductible. Any amount not covered by your insurance will be due that day.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept most insurance plans and as a courtesy, we will submit your insurance claim for you. The portion that is not covered by the insurance company is your responsibility and due at the time of service. If payment is not met in full at time of services, then a statement will be sent to you and will reflect a service fee.
It is a benefit to you to know and understand what your insurance benefits are, including deductibles and co-pays. Regrettably, we do not dictate insurance policies and can only work with them. We will make every effort to help you understand what your coverages are.
What can I expect to pay for my visit?
We would be happy to discuss fees and insurance with parents prior to the first visit in our office.
Our receptionists will discuss this with you, and answer any questions you may have prior to making your first appointment.
My child may be nervous. How can you help?
It is quite normal for children to be anxious about their first visit to the dentist. Pediatric dentists have special training in helping anxious children feel secure during treatment. Also, pediatric dental offices are designed to make children feel comfortable. Even though kids may not like having their teeth cleaned or examined, there is a good chance they will be able to watch their favorite television show or movie on a nearby monitor. Staff members choose to work in our pediatric dental practice because they enjoy working with children.
Why do I need to come back every 6 months?
The American Association of Pediatric Dentists suggest that children be seen twice a year.
During this visit, Dr. Kamdar will make sure that your child’s teeth are clean and healthy, free of dental incidentst which may cause problems for your child.
We promote prevention for a lifetime of healthy smiles.
We have several children and scheduling is important to us.
Do you run on time, and will you see all my children at once?
Seeing several children in one family at the same time is never a problem for our staff. We know that our parents have busy schedules, and we do our best to stay on schedule at all times.
Dr. Kamdar is a pediatric dentist, specialized in the treatment and prevention of dental disease, as well as the overall oral health of children. Through extra years of schooling, training, experience, and certification, a pediatric dentist like Dr. Kamdar is uniquely qualified to treat the dental needs of infants, children, and adolescents.
Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?
A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults
but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education. We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their “cavities fixed” but rather to prevent them. Our office provides all of the educational tools necessary
for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.
Pediatric Dental Topics:
Dentistry for Adults
Our Office is committed to your healthy smile
no matter what your age.
When we first started treating children, parents would ask
if we’d take the same good care for them. We are pleased
to offer general dentistry to those over 21.
General dentistry is what most people think about when visiting
the dentist. Cleanings, exams, x-rays and fillings when needed.
We recommend twice a year visits to our office to check on
your teeth and make sure your smile is looking it’s best.
We’re always looking forward to seeing you!

Meet Dr. Kamdar
Dr. Kiran Kamdar grew up in India and Africa, her family benefiting from the many cultures her father’s business led them to. She attended University of Mumbai in India, then University of Mumbai School of Dentistry where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Doctor of Dental Surgery. During her first year of general dentistry practice in India, she knew that treating children made her happiest. Dr. Kamdar then attended University of Minnesota School of Dentistry Pediatric Dental Program, and after two years she received her postdoctoral Masters in Pediatric Dentistry there.
In April of 1989, Dr. Kamdar opened Neighborhood Pediatric Dentistry. A few years later, after her patient’s parents wanted to receive the same great dental care as their children, she hired an associate to focus on adults while she maintained care over children. She keeps up to date with the latest dental techniques through her memberships of American Dental Association, American Association of Pediatric Dentists, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Georgia Dental Association, Northern District Dental Society of Georgia & (g)nathos Orthodontic Study Group.
Dr. Kamdar enjoys spending time with family here and in India. Her husband Madhu always supported her in all her endeavors. Her grown children both attended the University of Georgia. Her son, Mihir, is a Harvard Medical School graduate and practices specialized medicine in Boston. Her daughter, Purvi, works in the marketing department of Johnson & Johnson and is the mother of two. Her mom always believed and instilled in her children “education is the key to success, wealth may come and go but Knowledge is always with you.”
Born and raised in Martinsville, VA. Received a Bachelor’s Degree of Art in 2008 from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Recently moved to Georgia in 2015 with her husband, 2 ½ year old son & newborn daughter.
Enjoys spending time with her family. Loves to travel, the furthest being to Africa and would love to travel to Australia. New to the dental profession but enjoys learning new and challenging tasks.
